► The Porsche Cayenne goes electric
► Will be smaller than the K1, bigger than Macan
► Will likely run on VW Group SSP platform

This is the new electric Porsche Cayenne, before the engineers in Stuttgart engineers want you to see it. CAR understands the SUV will come be available with both ICE and EV powertrains, but it’ll be the electric variant we see first.

These pictures – taken by our intrepid spy photographers – show two electric Cayenne prototypes testing on public roads. And as with previous Porsche development vehicles, the camo doesn’t hide all the details.

Look closely and you’ll see production lights similar to those on the new electric Macan, while details such as the the C pillar and the lower parts of the door have also been disguised.

Anything else we know?

Not that much, other than it’ll have all-wheel-drive and lots of power – especially as SUVs can afford even more battery space than slick sports cars like the Porsche Taycan or Audi e-Tron GT.

When will it be released?

The electric Cayenne should emerge in late 2025 or early 2026. It’ll slot in the range above the electric Macan, but it’ll later be usurped by the even larger ‘K1’ X7/GLS rival in the future.
