My first visit to McLaren was 1967, organised by a dutiful parent with industry connections. In those days the premises was an insanitary lock-up garage on a Weybridge trading estate. I was tasked with the job of picking up CAR's McLaren MP4-12C from Woking for the supercar showdown in the new July 2011 issue. Hardly one of life's chores.
