Which is your secondhand car bargain of the decade?

Published: 19 May 2011 Updated: 26 January 2015

The new June 2011 issue of CAR Magazine out this week names our 54 used car bargains of the decade. It’s an issue that routinely vexes any car enthusiast; who hasn’t idly whiled away the odd hour or two on Auto Trader or Pistonheads, window shopping their next car?

So we set about researching the best prices vs thrills, depreciation vs value graphs. Did you know you could buy a decent Honda Civic Type R for just £3600? An Audi TT for £3995 or acceptable face of MPVkind, Ford’s S-Max, for £7k? A glorious new-shape Porsche Boxster is now within reach at £12,000. And it’s not mere price gawping. We’ve gone away and spoken to experts in the trade to sniff out the best bargains, and got advice from workshops and engineers up and down the country to make sure the cars recommended are available in numbers and won’t break down the minute you drive off the forecourt. (Yes, yes – we’ve also included some braver stuff like the fabulous £12k TVR Tuscan). Don’t miss our 14-page special in the new June 2011 issue of CAR Magazine.

Now it’s your turn. Rate the cars from our shortlist in our poll below and tell us what we got right and what we got horribly wrong. We’ve split them by price category in our interactive polls. Don’t forget to add your own comments below telling us which great secondhand car bargains we’ve missed off. We’ll mention the best recommendations in the July 2011 issue of CAR Magazine.
