The Book?

I subscribed to the magazine, and was assured that Mr Bayley's book would be fothcoming, even though I was in Australia. I have yet to receive it and I was just wondering whether I am unique in being an overseas subscriber who has yet to have it arive, or whether they just haven't made it down here yet. Another possibility is that perhaps Stephen has been writing sleeve notes especially for me, considering my close ties with CAR and relentless dedication to the forum (ahem).

Has anybody else received their copy yet?

February issue 2009

Just fell through the door,a quick glance through and it appears that most of the ads have been stolen and replaced with loads of great articles. There is a serious concern that i wont be anywhere near getting through it before March appears...Very well done

Another one bites the dust

Reading the report on the Sema show in the latest edition, was interested in the mention made of a company called PML who were exibiting an all electric F150 with motors in each wheel totalling 500bhp.They also  mentioned that they have a similarly equipped mini running at Lotus at the moment, so i thought it would be interesting to see how the installation stacked up against the BMW mini...Onto their site then, and there are several small vids, one with a VOLVO,wiith its small latest technology battery pack taking up a small amount of room in the boot, so its ...

Your favorite part

A simple question just to get the forum going a bit tonight (really quiet!),What is your favorite article in this months issue? And why?

I personally loved the one on the Hyundai Genesis, especially the pictures, think the car looks really good in them! The article also made me want to learn about the Korean war (I got nothing better to do i know lol) which really,to be honest,I knew very little about! Really enjoyable read

Still awaiting my copy!

I've noticed from a couple threads about the new January issue that a number of subscribers are still awaiting their copy to plop through their letterboxes despite copies being readily available in the shops. Just wanted to add my name to the list. What is going on? I had a very polite email on the 18th of November to say we'd get our copies a bit late due to some exclusives, but no later than the 27th - still waiting folks! Can i look forward to a subscriber only special - i doubt that very much. Looks like i'll have ...

Deliberate mistake in Jan. 2009 issue?

I've just received it and there are two inconsistent statements regarding the next M3's engine seem to have been put in by Kacher and McNamara.

Phil mentions in his review of his 335i long-termer in OurCars, he considers - "With Audi turning back from V8 to V6 kompressor for the latest S5, who's to say the twin-turbo six won't power future M cars?"

Whilst in Georg's piece about the new Audi S4, he confidently claims - "Late in 2009 there'll be a new 450bhp, V8-powered RS4/RS5, while the next M3 will switch from a normally aspirated V8 to a twin-turbo ...

November edition

The November edition marks a continued upswing in the re-readability of Car. (I´ll still be looking at this edition in 2014.) The graphics are looking much tidier and I shall heap extra praise (from my can of pre-whipped flattery) upon the Infiniti article for both form and content. The photos were superb and very smartly laid out and accompanied a refreshing and vigorous slab of text. The Nanjin MG story also caught my eye for its lush photos by Mr Fagelson and the well-tailored accompanying story. It was as good an article as one would find in 1995, which is a nice circumstance. I notice Greg Fountan, a former Car editor, has been unlocked from cryogenic suspension and ...

Error (wrong picture!) in Magazine November 2008 Issue

Regarding: Pages 30 and 31 of November 2008 Car Magazine.

I've been a faithful reader of your magazine for some time now, but the article on the Singapore Formula One Night race was horrendous!

I have nothing against the text, but the picture used was NOT of Singapore! Are you guys kidding? Who are you trying to fool? I hate to say this, but that's outright poor journalism and editing. The first night race in the world... and the picture used wrong?

Either a big blunder was made, or Car Magazine thinks that its readers have a very poor sense ...

Paris review by Stephen Bayley

As the online discussion is mainly driven by the aesthetic component of the Paris show, would it be possible for a Mr. Bayley to offer his opinions on the show cars? It need not be in depth for the online version but a detailed essay in print would be a fantastic variation to the road test, new model review format CAR uses. He is indeed an asset, and someone who writes with a sublime combination of authority and artistic rigour. Any opportunity to read his musings is one I relish and I think he should be regularly sent (well, offered to be ...

LJK Setright starting a car

Often when I start a car I remember (for I do not keep back issues for ever) a piece by Setright. He was bemoaning that people did not pay heed to warning lights when turning the key through the step that runs the fault checks. He suggested the correct approach is to wait wait to see if the warning lights extinguished before starting the engine. Of course he was right what's the point of diagnostic if you start the engine anyway! For the 21c this might not be so relevant as for the Bill Towns Aston Martin Lagonda but try ...
