I recall there being a terrible spate of kidnappings in Italy throughout the '70s and the prevailing view was that the more staid and upright the car, the less likelihood you or your precious kin would end up with a bag over their heads in some sinister Bader Meinhof scenario. Can anyone eludicate further?

Yes. I think you mean 'Red Brigades' (Brigate Rosse), rather than Baader-Meinhof/RAF - although the difference is tenuous.

Hell is other people.

Ah yes, thanks for the correction Sam. I still get my terror organisations mixed up. Comes from growing up in the '70s, when there was so much choice....

Easily confused - they were all mostly red, with a bit of black thrown in for good (anarchic) measure...

When it comes to Red Brigade kidnappings, the Alfa Romeo Alfetta has the "best" pedigree. The unfortunate Aldo Moro was thrown in the back of one. That said, I did some research and all the references comes from Wikipedia. I think that it may actually have been a Morris Marina. I must look this up.

I´ve just written to Bellini. We´ll see what comes back in due course.

I don't suppose you've had a reply from Bellini yet?

Trevi watch update

eBay: the beige €1400 one in Sardinia is still there. Also a €2300 sliver 2.0ie in Parma with a claimed genuine 40000kms (but photos from last year...)

No Trevis on mobile.de, and looks like the eBay Trevis are the same ones on AutoScout

Bellini never replied. I got back to work on Monday and there were no messages from him or his firm. I think he is being modest about his automotive design achievement.

Re: 1980 Lancia Trevi

Another Autocar arrived. It had a three page initial report which noted the love-it-loathe-it dashboard, the modern style of the seats and the modest dimensions of the boot. Overall, it was a lukewarm reception which reminded readers of the rust problem but also that Lancia had gone overboard in attempting to cure it. I think I now have the most part of the UK press on the car, which amounts to about thirty pages of coverage. This seems to have quelled entirely my urge to drive the car now.
