Sergio Pininfarina is no more. He died monday night on the 2nd of July. It's a sad story the demise of the family Pinifarina. Debth & death resulting in the family losing it's company and keeping just 1,2 % of shares. A mere token.
But let's not go here. Let's talk about one of this truly great designer. He changed car history, it's design that has been the biggest attractor for people to buy a car and Pininfarina is the most succesful at creating beauties. Ferrari 250 GT, Ferrari ENZO, Ferrari F40, Peugeot 406, to name just a few. But more importantly he inspired all the great car designers like Giorgetto Giugiaro and inspired even mainstream car companies to focus more on design instead of making shoe boxes with 2 little boxes attached to it front and rear. Today car design is more important than ever and it shows how hard it is to make a nice clean design. The Peugeot 406 coupé still looks great today and that says it all really.
Sergio hereby I pay my respects to you, I thank you for the beauty you have created. Rest in Peace
It is in fact a hero

RIP indeed.
But I seem to remember reading that Sergio himself wasn't a designer. He did run the company long enough to be influential though.
