I'm not totally convinced about Gordon's new car. An extremely talented engineer and independent thinker, I am concerned that the hype and expectation surrounding his new car will actually overshadow the car itself. I fully expect to be proven worng, but I just have a nagging doubt.

To design a car is an extraordinarily difficult thing, to get one manufactured to your complete design almost impossible. Murray is selling a piece of innovative technology; that alone is a hill and a mountain to climb before acceptance, if it comes at all. And on top of that it's a city car, the least luxurious, the least sexy, the least desirable in status stakes, the one niche most difficult to make a profit. But it has taken an economic meltdown to get western automotive giants to do some hard thinking and understand things have got to change and that means the shape, material and purpose of vehicles.

Well hello there Mr Snark. I dont believe you've dropped by down here before right? Feel free to mosey around.

The T25 i'm afraid is a bit misunderstood. You're right, as Murray himself said (and all articles repeated) this is less about the car and more, actually everything, to do with the manufacturing methods used to design and build it. The car's shape, design, seating layout is trivial, Murray just chose that layout and size to show what COULD be produced using his new manufacturing methods. This is what all those broken records up at the main site cannot seem to be able to comprehend.

But back to the T25 and its "revolutionary" iStream production method. I have to say i'm a bit sadded that the T25 as Murray intended it will probably never see series production. It could genuinely be a game changer.

I've no idea where Lokinen gets his idea of distrust in Murray selling Murray, thus implying empty rhetoric. What else are we to expect him to do as managing owner of a small automotive company in his name and likeness? Listen to a junior assistant reading froma prepared press release?

Herr Einstein, please stop fronting your theory of relativity. It sounds vainglorious.

One hears that criticism a lot, that so-and-so are good self-publicists. If it's the artist's ideas let the artist speak. Only then, on sight of their project, will we know if we have a Tracy Emin or a Barbara Rae. No, I want to hear of Murray's engineering ideas from Murray, NOT from a spokesperson.

I missed this first time around so just in case you are still about , dunno where you identified mistrust buddy, he can sell himself to the appropriate people all day long but ideas in head is a bit too early in the design stage and like the new small Saab design, also only held in cranium, doesn't work that well around here....we like pics.

Re: Gordon Murray T25

Last week Toyota presented the Camatte concept at the 2012 Tokyo Toy Show. 1+2 seating and a flip-forward canopy bring the T25/T27 to mind, although the article I read on Car & Driver made no mention of the GMD minicar. Camatte dimensions below, with T27 EV dimensions in brackets

Length: 2700 (2500)

Width: 1300 (1300)

Height: 1200 (1600)

Wheelbase: 1800 (1780)

The noddy-car in blue is the Sora, and the army scout car is the Daichi. If it is a GMD car chassis underneath the Camatte, it is interesting to see alternate designs on a similar footprint but much lower roofline.
