Recently I was on holiday in California and I drove along the magnificent coastline from Santa Monica up to Carmel. What a stretch of road that is! Wonderful views, sweeping bends, tight radius corners, elevations, natural fauna- superb! It was one of those roads that I know would be a hazard to my licence if I lived there, it encourages you to be silly, especially away from the major towns.
Attached is a photo which is very blurry and doesn't do this great road justice, but is the best my 'phone could manage.

You're right. It is one of the world's great drives but it's a shame you didn't manage to continue North, all the way to San Fran, over the Golden Gate, out to Point Reyes and on North. Great driving through the rewoods - oldest things on earth. Wonderful place, Californis.
Thanks for the comment fencer, this is generally the quiet room of the forum so it is nice to have something replied to.
I have driven over the Golden Gate bridge but it was at night, which was an experience in itself and quite a highlight I must say. I am not sure of the road but I was returning from Yosemite and was diverted away from the Bay bridge over the Golden Gate by traffic- a happy accident!
I had promised myself as a small kid reading about the Redwoods, and in particular the Giant Redwoods that I would see them one day and I finally did (it was the old photo' of the car driving through the tree that got me). California is simply an awe inspiring naturally beautiful place, ans being Australian I have high standards for natural wonders.
