In order not to hog the "news" section (daily ) I think there are sufficient rally nutters in the form of ex driver (me and GTR and I think a few other might own up ) and rally interested people from co-drivers (just if not more important than the bloody driver!) mechanics - marshalls - organizers and simply the best fans in the world - so I am starting this thread in order me - the guilty one - and all other interested can throw in any and all up to the minute info and interesting news - I hope this thread will run well and extensively without getting into politcal or snide remarks (I did write that!!)

First up:
New Zealander Hayden Paddon will be ditching his Lancer in the production class (my old class) which gave him 3rd last year - to a new scoobiedoo run out of Europe (not the UK) I think spain or italy. He got his first shot having come through the mitchellin young drivers campaign.
Good luck Hayden - though I think the LANCER will be noticed for its reliabilty compared the the scoobie - which maybe a bit quicker. If it is anything like the old 555 scoobies - its a dead easy drive much more comfortable on the limit than the Laner or the Pugs
time to move over
The two french sebs are clearly not giving an inch to each other and the team has told them just get CITROEN the championship first - you can fight it out bewteen you as to who gets the laurels. Should make for an interesting fight. Their new wheels were rolled out today in France. They must feel a bit smug - French car - French Drivers - French world champions Manufacturers and drivers - and lots and lots of French champers chucked all over them - with all due respect - I hope to hell the others can step up to the challenge and rub their noses a bit this season - besides the two sebs they also have Petter (hollywood) who can score manufacturers points - and that means him getting lots opf juicey bits for his jallopy
Kimi all set despite the sad loss of his father - it was considered he might take a sebatical but in fact has been talked back into continuing his new career - which I am sure the sport and fans appreciate
Raikkonen, 31, finished 10th in his debut campaign at world level last season but has held off confirming his 2011 programme following the sudden death of his father Matti prior to Christmas, and amid uncertainty over the continued support of sponsor Red Bull.
However, Citroen Racing boss Olivier Quesnel has said that the ex-Formula One world champion will definitely begin his campaign on Rally Sweden next month and will go on to tackle a minimum of nine further events.
Raikkonen will run under the ICE1 Racing banner from Citroen Racing’s base and with a full complement of Citroen engineers and mechanics. He will skip the rounds in Mexico, Italy (Sardinia) and Argentina and is due to get behind the wheel of the DS3 WRC for the first time at a test in Sweden this weekend.
The Acoplis is back!!
As some of you will know - I lived in Greece for over 30 years and rallied hard there for more than 15 of them in a variety of cars ranging from a typical group N clubmans rear wheel drive Toyota Starlet - winning the championship for class - up through Corolla's (rear and front wheel drive) and even an Audi Quattro plus the odd asphalt rally in an Alfa - Swift GTi - Pug 206 GTi - so I kind of love the country and the sport and the people. All my fondest and happiest memories are all there. I also did the Acropolis twice - and finished them!!! (an achievement - consider 138 starters and just 32 finishers!!)
well this year The Acropolis Rally will include a night stage on day two of this year's event, it has been announced.
Confirmation came when organisers published the full Rally Guide 1 on their official website. The 20.97 kilometre-run through Nea Politia, SS13, is scheduled to start on Saturday night at 21.33 hours local time.
If I remember this stage - its not funny and its 22-23 klm long - just wondering if they are doing this one stage or it is an extension of the entire day with a break of a couple of hours? will try to suss it
But great that the rally is back on the calendar
