Questions from the comments section on the main site pages:
Tim Pollard asks:
Chris: what are the office mechanics for deciding who goes on a launch like this? Seems like the McLaren MP4-12C event would have been a great launch for the web editor to attend, not the road test desk!

carmobster asks:
Well Tim I would like to add to that; where can I apply for a job! ?
Question about the new McLaren; It sounds strange, maybe even insulting to a supercar but I would like to ask how is the MP4-12c to drive on normal roads, is it useable on a day-to-day basis? I want a supercar I can use, not just on a track or the smoothest of roads. In other words can I drive it to St.Tropez without dislocated joints?
Daveandrews13 asks:
From what we're reading, this seems to be a game changer, even compared to the 458. But do you think the looks will count against it in the marketplace? It's not stand out like Italian rivals, but will that hurt it? I don't know enough about the buyers of supercars, but is being seen as important, or even more important, than the actual driving?
Vertigo asks:
Anyway, on topic... Most of my questions about the 12C have been answered at this point. The press blitz and forum buzz today has been mind-blowing. However, I'm confused about the weight: supposedly the dry weight is 1301kg (80 lighter than the 458), yet the curb weight is 1434kg (50kg lighter)? Is there an inaccuracy in one of those figures? The only other thing I can think of to ask is how well equipped it is in terms of boot space, glovebox and parcel shelf. Like Carmobster's question, it seems a bit of an odd thing to ask about a supercar, but in terms of ride quality, visibility and ergonomics it sounds like the 12C would make a tremendous daily driver. Anyway, must remember to be here Friday PM.
Batty asks:
What sort of ashtray does it have, and do you have photographs Chris?
MattV asks:
Chris: The picture that goes with this story (above) appears to show a map of the track on the central display unit. Does the car come pre-loaded with these maps (if so, for which tracks?) or is this just a graffic to illustrate that you were in track mode??

Lokinen asks:
Chris, what info do you have about the engine.Fairly unusual to have a brand new engine design.Be interested to know if the designers used any thing else as a starting point, is there anything unusual about this v8 that sets it apart or was it designed elsewhere but used here for the first time. My worry is that without the inside story, 5 years down the line Gtr slinger will be claimig it was based on an old Buick design.

I've thought of another question:
We've been hearing for about a year and a half that McLaren initially intend to produce 1,000 12Cs a year, and that by the time the upcoming models (the 911/R8 rival and F1-succeeding flagship) are in the roster, total McLaren production is expected to be 4,000/year.
My question is whether the 12C's production will remain capped around that 1,000/year figure, or if it will rise if demand is greater than expected (or when additional variants of the 12C are introduced, such as convertible and 'hardcore' models).
It's not exactly something related to driving the 12C, but CAR has been a brilliant source of McLaren information and I'm hoping Chris can shed some light on the subject.

Chris, watching your Jenson Button video, it's hard to work out just how fast you're going (especially as Jenson makes it look like a Sunday drive. (In a Micra, not his typical Sunday steer.) Please can you tell us a bit more about speeds, g-forces and what JB is like as a driver.
