I saw one of these today and found it oddly attractive. Mitsubishi L300 is a commercial van made by Mitsubishi Motors since 1968. It was originally based on a small pickup truck introduced the previous year.

Ah,car culture is so varied. It´s a delight. I presume there must be some really interesting Japan-only vans too. I suppose there is website devoted to them somewhere... http://www.camper-van-fun.com/ and here it is!

You'll be in Japanese van heaven if you ever visit New Zealand. That generation L300 remains popular here, and the L200 ute (pickup truck) also came as a Sportpac model in the '80s and '90s. Looking back those were probably Mitsubishi's golden years in terms of having a full range of cars and commercial vehicles.

Look at this. Fun, isn´t it? I just met a bloke who owns one. He took it last night to the beach and had a picnic dinner with his three daughters. I know it´s not fast but it looks handy and adaptable. It suggests three week tours through the Loire or Umbria.
