The "What does everyone do for a living?" thread

OK the "Where's everyone from" thread was a mild success so i thought we should follow up with the "What does everyone do for a living?" thread.

How about it?

Now myself, I studied Computer Systems Engineering in the UK and finished my studies last summer so the obvious thing to do when i got back to Cyprus was to start working at the family business. A travel agency!

Favourites - Past, present and future

Right then, what cars do you drive?

I currently own a 1.3l Yaris and a 116i.

they are both about as slow as each other away from the traffic lights! But I did have the presence of mind to order the BMW de-badged, so it might just be a 120d if you don't look too hard.

I%XA0remember%XA0turning the traction control off on the BMW for the first time, and expecting everything to turn into an%XA0episode%XA0of top gear. And then I realised that you had to dump the clutch from about 6,000 revs to spin the wheels at all. It is not a fast car.

CAR feedback

Thanks this week

Ok, in order to start some discussion and interaction I'm going to start a thread and try to thank those members of the online site who I think have contributed poisitively to the site. And, if they really hard, perhaps the authors too!

In no order at all (just those that enter my head at the time of writing)

ga41- Keeps trying on the forum and responds to threads. Deserves a medal for perseverance!

Lokinen- same as above.

betrandnairobi- insightful, intelligent comments on the website. Nicely structured arguments

jacomoseven- posted on the forum and good comments

Robby1977- posted on the ...

Driving Habits

My colleagues and I often share our experiences of road users good and bad and wanted to get a view from any CAR readers... Is it just me or has adhering to the highway code become as mythical as the Arc of the Covenant? I live in a really hilly city and have rarely witnessed drivers giving way to the upcoming vehicle, its usually more a vague game of chicken. My boss recently drove over to the nordschiefe (excuse my spelling) and I was keen to hear of his road experiences as he went via the autobahns, depressingly he reported that our European friends were ...

Favourites - Past, present and future

Childhood hero vehicles - what's your favourite?

Reading today about the 8.4 litre Dodge Challenger got me thinkin' - what's your favourite boy/girlhood hero vehicle and why? I liked the General Lee, but my absolute favourite has to be KITT - I've always loved all things with a computer in it! Is yours one of these, or the A-Team van, The Prisoner's Seven, StreetHawk, or something more esoteric? Let's hear about 'em! I think a little nostalgia will help us all in these crunchy times!

Tax My Fizzy Drink Why Don't You!

'Green government' taxes CO2 from car exhausts and jets in international airspace outside of its tax jurisdiction... when will they get round to the obvious... the bubbles in our fizzy drinks?

An enviromental issue that's "the biggest threat to us today" according to Tony Blair as Iraq/WMD was just before it! So another dodgy dossier signed off by 'experts' (Govt funded cronies, sorry 'scientists') is all the justification politicians need to fleece people.

The only proven factor to move Earths temperature over our 4.5 billion years is the fusion reactor in the sky we affectionately call the Sun. Ice however, ...

CAR feedback

Is it me or is Car not as good as it used to be?

As a regular car reader for 15 years I've recently stopped buying it as it just doesn't seem as good as it used to be. Not enough new car reviews and too much focus on the exotic for my liking. I still read many of the classic issues from the '90s again and again but nowadays the magazine can be read in a few hours and I've no desire to re-read
