Just found this for 4 grand. Its amazing how cheap these old large cars are. I do love the way the advert is so well presented and the length of it with all its service dates etc. and hes only asking 4 grand for all the time and effort he put into presenting it. Makes a very tempting buy for some people.

BMW 1-series or Audi A3?

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but hopefully not long from now one of these will be my car!

So I'm currently debating which of these two to buy. Looking at the 2.0 diesel versions of both, and they're both going for about £8.5k with 75k-ish miles on the clock, and they're '05-'06 models.

Anyone got experience of either or any useful tips as to what I should look out for? (things that commonly go wrong with either, etc)

Thanks,

Sexuality and Motoring

Just wondering, the Renault Wind comments prompted me to think this.... How many gay people are on CAR online? Also, are there many gay motoring journalists? I always wondered about this, as there never seems to be any publicity about it...

Major philosophical quandary

My XM is 20 this year and its joints are creaking. It needs new bushings, strut tops (a major cost) and new spheres, new timing belt, sparks and sundry other things (the door lack tabs are all gone or broken). For half the estimated price I can buy a V6 XM in series 2 guise, in first rate order but without most of the little quirks that made the XM special: the rotary knob for the lights, the single spoke steering wheel, the inner rear window and the unusual 80s dashboard design are absent. The series 2 was a watered down XM ...
