Jaguar's XF 4.0-litre supercharged SV8 is a great car, but along with the naturally aspirated V8 it’ll only account for 5 percent of sales. But the 2.7-litre diesel will mop up a whopping 70 percent of sales. This then, is the crucial test for the new XF, and for Jaguar.
Things start well, because the more you see the XF, the more you fall for its looks. There are Lexus GS hints in the side profile, but park the two cars together and the Jag is lower and definitely leaner with pronounced rear haunches. And speaking of rears, the XF surely has one of the best of any car, whatever the class. Only oversized headlights, an undersized grille, and the necessity to spec big wheels let Ian Callum’s design down. Just be prepared for all the attention you’ll get driving it.

RE: Jaguar XF 2.7 D Prem Lux CAR review
I used to see a white one parked along the road before I changed my route. Every time I'd stare at it, still minding the traffic of course. I rather like its looks.

Blimey, you lot are hard to please! Beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that, of course, and in mine it looks gorgeous in the flesh. Test drove last week, ordered today after years of loyalty to a competing marque, and don't expect to regret it for an instant.

After the launch last night and the test drive today.......... conclusion, Boot way too small, my golf bag and trolly would not fit side by side, a real struggle to get it in. Two cases would not be put on top of one another( Useless)one had to go on the rear seat. The interior once you get past the start-up sequence is "S Type again" bright and well finished, the wheels on the other hand look franky poor ( at least the muti-spoke one's on the show models)and the finsh looks cheap. The 20" depicted in all the adverts are NOT available for the smaller engined cars!!!! Performance was IMO sluggish, smooth but underpowered, confirming the old tech of these engines, economy was poor (32MPG) considering the car was largely being nursed. Overall I would not buy one.

I too think the rear end is stunning, but the Jaguar 'leaper' seems to unbalance it a bit. Can suggest anything to improve, as to have one leaping the other way wold look plain daft.

This is the car we all so much want to succeed. Though clearly not as exciting as the concept, it is -at long last- a huge step forward for Jaguar. I'll book as test and come back for more shortly.
