Pagani Huayra (2012) supercar CAR video review

Watch CAR's new Pagani Huayra video review in our new road test. We shot it while on the launch of the Huayra supercar around the company's Modenese headquarters in typically bucolic Italian countryside and  sunshine.

You can read more about the C9-generation Pagani Huayra here, but all you need to know is it's a largely carbon-and-unobtainium supercar to replace the Zonda. And as its shape suggests, it's devilishly fast, with a 720bhp bi-turbo V12 from AMG making this one of the fastest supercars on the planet.

Pagani says the 1350kg two-seater can top 224mph and sprint to 62mph in 3.3sec. To see what that feels like, watch CAR Magazine's new Pagani Huayra video above. Enjoy!

This car looks amazing, I had the chance to ride a Pagani Zonda at an automobile donation charity campaign, that car has so much power and the design is very beautiful. Not everyone have enough money to buy such a car and the ones that buy it make the best decision.

On watching this incredible video, I have huge doubts now what to choose. In a whole, its interior and speed characteristics are to me even more than Veyron or all of the Ferraris, So my choice is Pagani Huayra, no matter how it is pronounced) I can live with it)

It really is something that needs to be seen in person and it helps to have a keen interest and respect for how things are built to fully appreciate these artworks. As a small example: the carbon weave pattern on the doors matches up exactly to that of the monocoque. That's a lot of little lines that have to line up at the exact angle on panels built in different molds and in multiple surface contour changes. It doesn't even matter that most of the cars come painted and this will be completely hidden—that's Pagani's way of doing things. The Spykers are interesting in a complete OTT way, but a little too Pimp my Ride meets old world boat aesthetic. The only thing I found impressive about the Bugatti was how small it was in spite of its heft. I guess you really can stick 10 pounds of sh*t in a 5 pound bag.

The Pagani really does come together when you see it, but everything's subjective and I won't try to argue that they're beautiful cars at a glance. I'm not one to hyperventilate over uppity things and think most of luxury stuff is overpriced junk for sad people with too much money and no clue what's really important in life, but the Pagani isn't just a rich toy, it's a celebration of transportation art and craftsmanship. Clients aren't buying cars, they're buying artwork. It's something I didn't expect, but I'm very glad I got to experience it. If you get a good chance to really check one out and have appreciation for how things are made, you'll understand Pagani really belongs in a whole other category than merely another exotic car.

@gtrsIngr It was indeed Car that raised the question "Would you choose a Pagani Huayra ahead of a Ferrari, Lamborghini or Bugatti?".   Not myself and that is the question I alluded to in my earlier post.

I have absolutely no doubts about the dedication and focus that Horace Pagani and his team of craftsmen display, but as my post opened "it's a highly-subjective matter".   The Huayra just simply doesn't 'do it' for me.
