That’s because the Fabia and Roomster are the only Skodas so far to wear the new corporate nose. The Czech firm wants to move away from the ultra-conservative styling of cars like the Octavia.
Not quite. Volkswagen used the first Fabia as a testing ground for the new platform it was developing for the next Polo, but this time the Fabia makes do with a tweaked version of the old car’s oily bits. That’s not necessarily a bad thing: the old car was vaunted for its grown-up feel, refinement and comfort, if never its ability to excite.

RE: Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDi (2007) CAR review
The 1.9 TDi is my thrid Skoda and although I still love the car I really feel that the interior has taken a step backwards for many of the plastic parts, like buttons and window controls. Previously the car used to have solid colour plastic parts like the VW, now the same parts are a hard plastic coated with thin layer of shiney plastic, which rubbs off with heavy use. The old parts could last for ever because they didnt have a coating to deteriorate, which seems like a step backwards to me on a otherwise great car. The diesel is also much more cost effective to run than the petrol which I have previously owned.

I love this car. My dad bought this car for himself and after I got the driving licences he decided to donate car to me. I consider this car a friends car. It's small and slick enough to move pretty fast in the traffic, but big enough to move around 4 of your best friends. For a car of that caliber it handles pretty well and doesn't cost that much either.
