Lotus Exige 265E (2006) CAR review

Rated 5 out of 55

Angus Fitton, 03 June 2007 02:36

It looks like a slightly more colourful Exige - what's the story? This is the Exige 265E - the fastest ever Exige and the first bio-ethanol Lotus. The digits 265 denote the 265PS power output, or 261bhp in old money – up 46bhp over the standard car. The 'E' informs people that this car runs on ethanol, alcohol made from ...

Brooke Double R (2006) CAR review

Rated 2 out of 52

Angus Fitton, 19 December 2006 08:50

The Brooke looks familiar It’s similar in style to Gordon Murray’s bike-engined Rocket from 1992, but the Brooke adopts a more conventional seating layout – two abreast, not one behind the other – and the engine is the 260bhp Cosworth four used in the Caterham CSR. What’s underneath? Not a lot. The Brooke weighs just 550kg, or 310kg less than ...

Rated 2 out of 52

The lowdown This gorgeous creation is the new Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione. It looks familiar because it's the production version of the 2003 concept car which bore the same name. Alfa has confirmed that the 450bhp V8 coupe will go on sale in September next year. In a tactic borrowed from Ferrari, production will be limited. Insiders hint that as ...

BMW X3 3.0sd (2006) CAR review

Rated 4 out of 54

Angus Fitton, 11 September 2006 08:23

I'm stumped - what's new? You're not the only one - apparently this is the revised BMW X3. Although if you can spot all the differences between the pre- and post-facelift cars you really should get out more or consider a job at BMW. According to just such people the front lights are new - incorporating different 'halo' bulbs behind ...

Bill Ford is set to step aside as chief executive of Ford Motor Company. Replacing him is 61-year-old Alan Mulally, previously the boss of Boeing's commercial aircraft division. Ford stepped down as part of a major management reshuffle designed to reverse the ailing fortunes of the world’s third largest car manufacturer. Ford reported a $1.3billion loss in the first half ...

Vauxhall Corsa VXR (2007)

Angus Fitton, 06 September 2006 07:00

The lowdown Vauxhall's Corsa VXR is hot-lapping the Nurburgring virtually undisguised, as the clock ticks down to its spring 2007 launch. For the first time, the beefy bodykit and massive 18-inch wheels hiding pumped up brake discs and callipers are visible. Underneath the bonnet is a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine developing a class-topping 200bhp, mated to a a close ratio six-speed ...

Suzuki Swift Sport (2006) CAR review

Rated 3.5 out of 53.5

Angus Fitton, 05 September 2006 09:00

Suzuki Swift Sport? Sounds like a horrible special edition to me... The name may suggest graphic-laden dealer special, but this is a genuine junior hot hatch. The Swift Sport is a thoroughly sorted, stiffened, lowered, meaner looking and gruffer-sounding distant relative to the standard car. Above the 17-inch wheels and bodykit are stiffened Monroe dampers coupled with uprated springs, along ...
