Rated 2 out of 52

Ben Whitworth, 07 November 2008 09:49

Las Vegas being Las Vegas – and SEMA being SEMA – there’s probably no better place to unveil a trio of modded Hummers H3s. GM bosses bill the H3T Weekend Warrior, the H3 X and the H3 Alpha concepts as the last word in Hummer-ness. Let’s hope they’re serious about the ‘last’ bit… That’s a bit harsh on Hummer, isn’t it? ...

SEMA 2008 show report: Volkswagen Passat CC

Rated 3 out of 53

Ben Whitworth, 07 November 2008 09:00

Volkswagen’s sobriety took a back seat at the SEMA show in Las Vegas this week – it pulled the covers off a pair of muscle-bound Passat CCs, a racy 295bhp Tiguan and a grunty diesel Jetta aimed at cajoling the American market into turning its back on gasoline. A hot VW Passat CC isn’t without appeal… The unambiguously named Performance ...

Rated 3.5 out of 53.5

Ben Whitworth, 06 November 2008 16:59

Chrysler may have its back against the wall, but that hasn't stopped its SRT skunkworks team churning out what is easily the most politically incorrect – and, as a result, wonderfully desirable – Challenger SRT-10. Holy tyre smoke! That's a mean looking Dodge Charger... Yes, and with an 8.4-litre 600bhp V10 Viper motor shoehorned into the Dodge’s engine bay, there’ll ...

If you think America’s Big Three are finding market conditions tough, Europe’s finest are sagging on the ropes, too. This week BMW announced it was axing the radical CS four-door coupe – this, after its recent cancellation of the X7 – while Mercedes recorded a 25% drop in North American sales this month. Caterham has turned to cyberspace to design its next model – the low-volume carmaker is calling on fans around the world to log onto a bespoke website to submit their ideas and designs for every aspect of the new Caterham, before ultimately voting on what makes it to the final vehicle. Mercedes set an all but impossible challenge for tuners at this year’s SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas – to turn its gut-wrenchingly ugly GLK off-roader, which makes its formal American debut at the show, into something desirable and cool. The best four submissions – the Brabus Widestar, Urban Whip, Pikes Peak Rally Racer and Rock Crawler ...

Ben Whitworth, 04 November 2008 10:30

Much like Mercedes has done with its GLK at this year’s SEMA show, Chevrolet has turned its Camaro muscle car over to four tuners to see what they come up with. And credit crunch and fuel prices be damned - we like what we’re seeing. A lot. Here’s a look at each concept Camaro in detail… The LS7 and the ...
