Despite the hard times, General Motors is pushing ahead with launching new product. Its latest model is this Corvette Grand Sport, and while it won’t revive the company’s fortunes, at least it’ll help ‘Vette enthusiasts forget about the future.

What is the new Corvette Grand Sport?

It’s a wide-body ‘Vette with track-tuned suspension. Unveiled at the 12th annual C5/C6 Corvette Birthday Bash, the Grand Sport features a 6.2-litre V8 with 430bhp and 424lb ft, wider wheels and tyres, bigger brakes, revised shock absorbers and springs, plus specific gearing that knocks 0.2 seconds off the regular car’s 4.3sec 0-60mph time.

Grand Sport coupe models also come with a dry-sumped engine, a differential cooler and a rear-mounted battery, while all Grand Sports can be had with a dual-mode exhaust that liberates an extra 6bhp and 4lb ft.

You can also spec a Heritage Package that comes with two-tone seats and front wing hash marks in a choice of four colours. Prices have yet to be announced.
