Infiniti has shown its new Q60 Coupe concept at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, aka the Detroit show.
It’s Nissan’s upmarket wing’s latest plan to tempt exec buyers away from the Germans: this is an alternative – and a slinky one at that – to the BMW 4-series and Audi A5 coupes.
It’s a 2+2 in the mould of the outgoing Q60, nee G37. And we’d say this concept car stands a very high chance of jumping from motor show catwalk to high-street showroom virtually unmolested.

The spec details
The Q60 show car measures 4690mm long, 1865mm wide and 1370mm tall – making it shadow almost precisely a 4-series’ footprint.
There’s no denying that Infiniti is gradually getting its design DNA in order; we’d argue this Q60 concept car has some panache, and a degree more want than previous iterations.
We just hope they keep the show car’s class intact when it launches for real. Presumably without the designers’ favourite 21-inch show wheels.
3.0 V6 twin-turbo
Refreshing news: here’s a concept car without a hybrid powertrain! The Q60 concept uses the latest Infiniti 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, breathed on by twin turbochargers and direct injection.
It’s the same engine seen in the Q80 Inspiration, and is surely going to be good for 300bhp+ (although no power outputs are quoted in today’s announcement). This is one of the members of a new generation of Infiniti engines, due to be rolled out on production cars over the next two years.
Other tech from elsewhere in the group features: the Q50’s Direct Adaptive Steering lets microchips rather than physical columns manage the steering input, while intelligent keys store up to four drivers’ preferences, adapting the seats, mirrors, stereo and even the heating for individual preferences.
