Austrian bike maker KTM is extending its X-Bow range to make a new race car in partnership with Reiter Engineering.
Seen here for the first time, the as-yet unnamed sports car will be sold to racing teams and individuals in Europe, the US and Asia.
The two companies have previous form, having collaborated on GT4 racers as long ago as 2008. That car was a X-Bow GT4, driven by German Christopher Haase to victory in the Sports Light European championship.
The new KTM-Reiter racer
Although KTM has helped design the new X-Bow, Reiter will build, sell and service it, according to today’s announcement.
Owner Hans Reiter has history working with Lamborghini’s race cars; he launched the Gallardo GT3 and Murcielago GT1. Now he’s branching into his own branded racers.
‘Now is the ideal time to introduce a revolutionary new vehicle concept into international customer motorsport,’ he said. ‘This is an opportunity I did not want to miss and I presented my ideas to KTM.
‘I’m convinced that the new model will attract a lot of interest and will be very successful internationally.’
KTM’s racing history
KTM board member Hubert Trunkenpolz said the new car would complement its existing X-Bow Battle one-make series for its diminutive X-Bow track car.
He confirmed the new car was X-Bow based, but the company has yet to issue any more concrete details on the racer.
