What's under the (rear) bonnet?

The i is powered by a 660cc three-cylinder engine, turbocharged to deliver 64bhp and 69lb ft. It's rear-wheel drive and the four-speed auto is the only transmission offered. Our testers have found the i to be a perfect city tool - nimble and easy to thread through bustling town streets - but it feels less at home when driven out of town, with sluggish performance and wayward handling.

Fuel consumption

I love my i which I bought at the end of October except for 2 things - the radio is unable to tune in to any FM station between 90 and 92 (really frustrating) and more importantly the fuel consumption is dreadful. I average 36mpg which is way below the advertised spec. I have had no joy from Customer Services at Mitsubishi, in fact I have received a complete brush off so wonder where to go next for advice.

I drive a Mitsubishi and was recently landed with one of these as a courtesy car... It's hilarious to drive, and very cleverly packaged. The backseats are really useable, although it took me a while to actually find the engine (its underneath the boot). Plus, you can tell your mates that you are driving a new Mitsubishi mid-engined turbo-charged rear wheel drive car!
