Honda news at 2009 Tokyo motor show

Rated 2 out of 52

Ben Pulman, 21 October 2009 03:31

Honda's press conference begins – and that dastardly clever little swot ASIMO strolls onto stage. I swear his animation gets better every year – he'll be running for prime minister next. He saunters onto stage and introduces Honda CEO Ito-san, but then let’s me down. I want ASIMO to pretend to fall asleep during Ito-san’s speech, or make a show ...

Hyundai Blue Will at Seoul motor show 2009

Rated 3 out of 53

James Foxall, 02 April 2009 15:18

What’s new on Hyundai’s Seoul motor show stand? The big noise on Korea’s best-selling car maker’s stand was its eco-friendly Blue Drive strategy and, more significantly, the launch of its first hybrid production car. The Elantra petrol-electric vehicle uses a 1.6-litre LPG-powered engine with power boosted by a 15kW electric unit. It goes on sale in summer 2009 and Hyundai ...

Chrysler 200C EV unveiled at Detroit auto show 2009

Rated 3 out of 53

James Foxall, 12 January 2009 13:07

With the years of elaborate stage sets and money-burning stunts such as driving cars through plate glass windows consigned firmly to the history books, Chrysler’s 2009 Detroit Motor Show stand was a sober place to be. While Ford and General Motors executives chose largely to ignore the financial crisis and government bail outs by pretending they hadn’t happened, Chrysler president ...

Lexus RX450h hybrid unveiled at LA Auto Show

Rated 2.5 out of 52.5

Digby Fullam, 20 November 2008 16:14

Lexus showed off the new RX450h hybrid at the LA Auto Show – and when the car comes to the UK in 2009, it will be a hybrid only range with not a smokey petrol-only model in sight. Are you sure you haven’t been tricked? The 'new' RX looks the same to me! While the looks of the latest version ...

Honda at the Paris motor show 2008

Rated 3 out of 53

James Foxall, 02 October 2008 10:35

Honda’s Paris stand was largely devoted to clean and affordable motoring. There was the latest Jazz and a new six-speed gearbox. But the real excitement was reserved for the new second-generation Insight, whose low price Honda believes will lure a whole new raft of buyers to hybrid motoring.  Tell me more about the Honda Insight This bears about as much ...

Italdesign Giugiaro Quaranta

Rated 4 out of 54

Guy Bird, 10 March 2008 11:53

What’s new on Italdesign Giugiaro’s Geneva Motor Show stand? The Quaranta concept. It celebrates 40 years of Italdesign and its founder, Italian car design legend Giorgetto Giugiaro, the man behind the VW Golf Mk1, BMW M1 and the original Alfa Romeo Brera concept. The 2008 Quaranta is another incredible looking Giugiaro vehicle combining old school super car proportions and shark-gill styling cues ...

Mercedes Vision GLK Bluetec hybrid

Rated 2.5 out of 52.5

Ben Barry, 04 March 2008 17:14

What’s new on the Mercedes stand? Quite a confusingly long list when you include facelifts and revised engines. But the big story is the Vision GLK Bluetec hybrid, a concept SUV with a four-cylinder diesel engine mated to a hybrid module. It delivers 224bhp and 413lb ft torque while emitting a class-leading 157g/km CO2. Other than the GLK, the SLK, ...

Toyota 1/X

Rated 4 out of 54

Jonny Smith, 25 October 2007 11:05

What is the point of this contraption exactly? Toyota has a habit of building mind boggling concept cars that fire up the public imagination and then deliver forgettable production dross. The 1/X may just change that. It is rumoured to showcase developments that could point towards the next Prius. So there's a chance of the Prius looking interesting? Yeah, and ...

Toyota Hi-CT

Rated 0 out of 50

Jonny Smith, 25 October 2007 04:51

And the winner of bravest car design goes to… You won't forget the proportions of the Hi-CT in a hurry. It is intentionally unconventional. If Judge Dredd lived in Tokyo and needed to downsize… It's very chunky. What are the dimensions? The Hi-CT 3330mm long, 1695mm wide, 1780mm high. The cabin in stretched in width, not length, so it seats ...
