Barina - if we're going to take "big fat and inefficient" out of the transport system because they're "about to see their sunset" I couldn't agree more. We're talking about public transport (buses and trains) aren't we that are also living off the backs of (subsidised by) hard working motorists right? As for 2 Ton plus Rollers, Mercs and Range Rovers, they're not far short of the effciency of a fully loaded bendy bus only difference is one owner pays his way and the other bunch live off State handouts and don't pay a jot for the upkeep of roads. Regards Lexus reliability who gives a fig? That may work as a USP in the economy hatch market but at £50k plus, so long as its reliable (and all cars are today), it doesn't win a single browney point. What you need up here is class and design flair, style and image. Cribbing doesn't cut it. Lexus are soft riding, refined also-rans with the brand power of bottled tap water. I'd agree with your view of German arrogance but I can forgive that character trait which comes with anyone being the best in their field.

Johnnybimmer, werent you around when the first LS400 arrived in Europe, and sat those smug arrogant bastards at Mercedes Benz et al on their collective complacent arses?? And MB's answer - more bloated HEAVIER barges, and "lets find yet another non-existent niche and stuff it full with irrelevant vehicles". BMW are a close second. Lexus only came first year after year [must have been some record] in the JD Power surveys, because they are bloody good cars. Would never say many of the LS's were knock-out looking, even when they tried aping MB. But like all big luxury cars, they are grossly over weight, and such cars must be about to see their sunset. A Lexus hybrid sure aint the answer either.
