Audi R8: future model plans revealed (2009)

Can we just stop this silly talk of a diesel supercar PLEASE! If you had that sort of money, the price of fuel would be of little concern, the dynamics would be worse than the petrol engined car's due to the weight, it would sound rubbish and you'd have to cue up with th eFord Transits at the local filling station. So who'd buy this and why? Audi's diesel success on the track is in endurance races. This is not what the R8 is supposed to be about. That's what a GT is for, so a diesel engined Rapide or Panamera would make some simblance of sense, but this thing? No way.

Someone has to build the first diesel supercar to show the way forward. If they don't with the R8, someone else will just take all the sales and credit. As for the V10, it'llbe ood, but the R-tronic isn't nearly as good as a DSG.

If the side blades bother you. Just wait for the topless version of the car next year. I think Audi's new double clutch gearbox cannot be used in the R8 because it's not a transaxle.
