Hyundai is testing a revised Veloster Turbo at the Nurburgring ahead of a series of revisions for the oddball coupe.
Our spy photos reveal a warmed-over Hyundai Veloster Turbo whose disguise suggests only modest styling tweaks. Hardly surprising, since the Veloster is – we’d argue – one of those difficult-to-facelift shapes.
However, this prototype sports cut-outs on the bonnet disguise, suggesting that Hyundai may be working to update the Veloster’s distinctive air intakes and manage air flow to and from the 184bhp turbo engine more effectively.
On the face of it, you’d imagine the Koreans would upgrade to the more powerful 201bhp 1.6 turbo seen elsewhere in the Hyundai-Kia firmament in the shape of the Proceed warm hatchback. However, our sources suggest that the Veloster Turbo will stick with the same engine.
So what is new on the facelifted Hyundai Veloster Turbo?
Hyundai engineers are focusing their development on the chassis of the Veloster, according to our sources in Germany.
In particular, they are working on ride and handling improvements, plus better steering response.

A new wardrobe for the 2015 Hyundai Veloster?
These spy shots suggest a new-look nose for the Veloster; the old car’s two-part grille seems to be due a makeover, with a larger item whose horizontal strakes are emphasised. It’s the simplest way to facelift a car with a new nose job.
Expect to see the facelifted Hyundai Veloster to be in showrooms in 2015 – three years after the car was first launched in the UK.
