Vauxhall Insignia (2013) engine overhaul and facelift

Rated 3.5 out of 53.5

Phil McNamara, 25 January 2013 10:30

Vauxhall will relaunch its Insignia hatch and wagon in September 2013, with a revamp that goes way beyond the nosejob and butt-tuck visible in our pictures. New, competitive petrol and diesel engines will be plumbed in, as Vauxhall embraces the downsizing trend to boost fuel economy. As well as flying around the Nürburgring, prototypes will be tested on UK roads, ...

Vauxhall prepares Insignia facelift (2013) spy shots

Rated 3 out of 53

Ollie Kew, 22 November 2012 15:20

Vauxhall is prepping a nipped, tucked and tweaked Insignia for release next year, complete with chassis upgrades and new engines. The car seen testing in our spy shots confirms there are detail changes to the lights front and rear, and a tweaked grille. We're sure the heavy-handed body surfacing applied to the rear door is not part of the facelift, though it ...

Rated 3.5 out of 53.5

Ollie Kew, 07 November 2012 00:01

Want a car christened ‘Supersport’ but can’t stretch to a Bugatti Veyron, Bentley Continental or Jaguar XJ? In that case, this 170mph Vauxhall might be of interest. This is the Insignia VXR Supersport, a speed-derestricted version of the hot saloon, and it comes with a hefty price cut against the previous VXR. What’s Super-sporty about this new Insignia VXR? Replacing the previous ...

Vauxhall Calibra Mk2: news of the 2013 successor

Rated 3 out of 53

Georg Kacher, 19 May 2010 11:54

Vauxhall and Opel are developing a successor to the swoopy Calibra coupé – and it could be on sale as soon as 2013.Conceived as a bolt-on to the Insignia family, the new two-door is known inhouse as 'New Calibra', leaving its market position in on doubt. It's likely to share cues with the original Insignia concept car, 2007's rakish GTC ...

Vauxhall Insignia VXR (2009) UK CAR review

Rated 3 out of 53

Chris Chilton, 31 July 2009 09:59

What’s this, has the VXR brand gone all sensible? Depends on how sensible you class a 321bhp family saloon that hits 60mph in 5.6sec and could top 170mph were it not for the killjoy limiter. But yes, the hottest Insignia is certainly more visually restrained than the usual VXR offerings and signals Vauxhall’s desire to make this particular VXR appeal ...

Vauxhall Insignia VXR (2009) pricing confirmed

Rated 3 out of 53

Richard Webber, 10 July 2009 10:22

Vauxhall’s new Insignia VXR is going to be one of the performance bargains of the year – the 321bhp feisty family car will cost £30,995 when sales start in autumn 2009. It’s aimed at the wired family man who values pace as much as practicality and value, a sort of Audi S4 on the cheap. Hmmm. Three grand less isn’t ...

Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer 1.6T (2009) CAR review

Rated 3.5 out of 53.5

Glen Waddington, 15 June 2009 10:00

The Vectra estate majored on space but looked as sexy as a stack of bottle crates. The Insignia hatch and saloon have turned their backs on the functional nature of the old Vectra, and the new Sports Tourer does the same to such an extent that Vauxhall couldn’t bring itself to label it an estate. But if it’s now sexy, ...

Vauxhall Insignia VXR Sports Tourer (2009) first pictures

Rated 2.5 out of 52.5

Ben Pulman, 20 May 2009 10:30

This is the third and final iteration of Vauxhall’s hot Insignia range, the VXR Sports Tourer, with a turbocharged 2.8-litre V6. Will the Vauxhall Insignia VXR make my dog feel sick? Definitely. The turbocharged 2.8-litre V6 produces 321bhp, enough for a six-second 0-60mph time (0.2sec behind the saloon and hatch) and a 155mph limited top speed. Beyond the extra grunt, the ...

Vauxhall Insignia Ecoflex (2009) first pictures

Rated 2.5 out of 52.5

Ben Barry, 21 April 2009 13:20

Vauxhall has announced its answer to the planet-conscious Volkswagen Passat Bluemotion – the Insignia Ecoflex. Essentially the Ecoflex is a 158bhp 2.0-litre CDTi Insignia, but an army of now-familiar C02-slashing improvements have been swung into action. What are these eco tweaks then? These improvements include under-car panelling and a lower ride height to help the Insignia cut through air more ...

Vauxhall Insignia VXR (2009): first official photos

Rated 2.5 out of 52.5

Tim Pollard, 15 April 2009 00:01

Yesterday we brought you spy video footage of the new Vauxhall Insignia VXR. Today we have the first official photographs of Luton’s new cut-price M3 four-door. Vauxhall will have the sporting family car segment almost to itself – Ford no longer builds a Mondeo ST and most European rivals no longer bother with high-horspower saloons (excepting VW’s equally crazed Passat ...
