Just replying to your posting... please do not take offense. "GT-R BETTER THAN 911 TURBO. Let me tell you why..." This is an opinion, not necessarily a fact. Keep in mind, this is a subjective question anyhow. What may suit one person, may not be right for another. "First of all, Can you all please go to both the Nissan GT-R and 911 Turbo pages and try using the "Build your car" feature? It takes about 45 seconds to build your GT-R (I clocked it)!!! By contrast, building your 911 takes you about 30 or 45 minutes if you don't give up!" I can build a SMART car in about 10-15 seconds online... How does the amount of customization for a vehicle have any bearing on what is better? "Secondly, I usually tend to not base my judgment on speed alone when I compare cars because there is so much more to a car than just sheer fast driving. Craftsmanship, dealer's service, price (911 Turbo is 2x more expensive than GT-R!!! ouch!), driving feel, exclusivity, resale value, reliability, maintenance costs, brand recognition" See above... SMART car... i don't judge it on speed, I keep in mind craftsmanship, and the dealer's service... price (it's 1/5th of the cost of the GTR where I live!!! OUCH!!!)... I'd make more quips, but I think you know where I'm coming from already. As for reliability... I've owned a 911 Turbo for 2 years, and I can say without a doubt I have never had any issues with my car. Build quality is top notch, as with any of the hand built vehicles I've owned. JD Power & associates in North America also has Porsche rated near the top for initial build quality... meaning on average, Porsche vehicles had the fewest problems over X amount of time from date of delivery. As for brand recognition and racing heritage... I think Porsche name speaks for itself in that respect, and is equally impressive to any of the Skyline's history. If not, an even more impressive past. When it comes to Nissan marketing tactics... They might as well throw in a Corvette for comparison as well... I mean, Nissan is simply stating "we can build an equally high performance sports car BUT! for less money" It would not have made much difference if they put a Corvette in the comparison... only that the Porsche 911 Turbo is overall a more recognizable target. Regardless of marketing & test vehicles... they are all superb sports cars, and I cant wait to try out the GTR myself. However when it comes to the vehicle's refinement... there is no comparison... (really I cant compare it because I have never seen a GTR nor owned one) This is a fact... many many people have much reverence for the Porsche nameplate for many reasons... refinement is definitely one of those qualities. I'm done ranting for the night... once again I apologize if I came across rather cheeky. Your post seemed that way, so I thought I would have some fun, adding in a few quips in response. Some of you guys are chatting about the Porsche pedigree of racing ha ha, perhaps you aint aware of the GTR race track achievements over the last two decades! The GTR is a is legendry and better than the beattle 911 in every aspect, this is the new generation ultimate machine, the old fashioned and backward minded people are stuck in bloody 1950's, wake up worl its 2008 and the GTR rules, You are all hating coz u know nothing about the racing history of the GTR and that how much its loved on the streets all over the world, its a machine you all old bags hate to see going past u like a thunder storm, Porche aint no much its old fashioned and has a heavier back end no wonder Y its slow in corners! its a beattle people nothing more. since when did the snobs sat and studied about mechanical engineering, they just think that every posh wanna be has a Porsche so they want one too without without knowing anything about performance cars in detail. 49 wins on the track for the GTR and Porsche loses, 9 times Le Mans winner, the GTR is a real racer's car not an old bag going down some boring golf course with his Porsche, the GTR is the R-cade generation,s sports car, those haters its time to shut up and hang ur blazer at back of ur Porche and go to ur old and wrinkley wife with lots of plastic on her face.
