Another week, another Maserati special edition. Today Maser shows off the new Quattroporte Sport GT S – the fifth edition of the sports saloon from Modena to grace CAR Online’s pages. Maserati calls it the sportiest Quattroporte yet.

The Quattroporte Sport GT S is essentially a Quattroporte S with a remapped version of the 4.7-litre V8 now producing 433bhp and revised gearchange mapping. There has been a Sport GT S version of the Quattroporte before but this is the facelifted version.

Other changes over the standard S include:

New single-rate dampers, stiffer springs and lowered ride height
Sports exhaust with pneumatic valves for aural delight
Black grille with concave vertical fins, red-accented Trident
Metallic titanium finish to headlamps
Black ‘shadow line’ finish to doors, body-coloured door handles
Twin oval exhausts
Perforated Alcantara and leather seats
Titanium-style composite interior trim

The Quattroporte Sport GTS will be unveiled at the 2009 Detroit show on 12 January 2009. CAR will be reporting live from the NAIAS – which is promising to be one of the most intriguing shows in recent years, in the wake of seismic change gripping Motown…
