Nissan shows off Resonance SUV concept teaser (2013)

Tease, tease, tease. Ahead of the 2013 Detroit motor show, Nissan is the latest manufacturer to release a shady teasing image of its new concept car: the Resonance concept.

It’ll be unveiled on 15 January 2013 at the NAIAS. The Resonance is the latest in a series of envelope-pushing crossover designs from the Japanese manufacturer.

Where is the Resonance Concept likely to fit into the Nissan line-up?

Nissan has stayed tight-lipped about the Resonance concept’s vital stats so far, but what we do know is that it is likely to be powered by some form of electric hybrid unit. As to whether it will be a powered by a fully electric motor – like its sibling the Nissan Leaf – or a combination of both a small petrol engine and hybrid-electric technology, is yet to be confirmed.

From the shady teaser shot it looks as if the designers see the Resonance concept as a sporty crossover. The elevated roofline and sloping rear end somewhat resemble that of a Range Rover Evoque. Full marks for Nissan, judging by this first glimpse.

Make sure you stay tuned to CAR for the big reveal on 15 January 2013 at the Detroit motor show.
