Vauxhall Zafira Tourer Concept (2011): first pics

Published: 22 February 2011 Updated: 26 January 2015

Vauxhall has provided us with a first, strange glimpse of the Zafira Tourer Concept, set to debut at the 2011 Geneva motor show.

Yep, that’s a hologram of the new 2012 Vauxhall/Opel Zafira.

Vauxhall Zafira Tourer Concept: details, please?

More information and proper photos of the show car are due on 25 February 2011. In the meantime, CAR readers will recall from our December 2010 edition that we’re expecting both the second and third rows of seats to fold flat; a ‘lounge seating’ concept for the second row makes the middle seat disappear for more space, and upgraded interior ambience wrapped in the current GM Europe styling themes.

The car’s platform and powertrain options will be shared with the Astra, as with the current car.

What is design chief Mark Adams doing in that photo?

He’s pretending to hold a holographic image of the Zafira Tourer, thanks no doubt to the magic of Photoshop. The things press offices get people to do…

If you aren’t averse to squinting at the levitating concept rendering, then you’ll also appreciate this quote from Mark Adams to go with the photo.

‘We have transferred the idea of a relaxing lounge to a vehicle and created an automobile oasis, a place to relax and enjoy. The Zafira Tourer Concept’s exterior design also makes a bold statement with its sleek, flowing lines and premium feel.’

Indeed.

Geneva show: just round the corner

More news on the Zafira Tourer concept shortly, as part of CAR’s 2011 Geneva motor show coverage.
