If you’ve always hankered after a chance to try an Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, then we have some good news for you – as you can now hire the Porsche Boxster-rivalling Alfa from Europcar.

You’ll have to fork out upwards of £248 a day to hire the £59,505 junior supercar. It might sound expensive, but a run-of-the-mill Golf can set you back around £220.

Got a weekend break in mind? Well, for £684, you can pick the 4C up on Friday and drop it back on Monday.

Is it worth the money?

Yes. CAR tested the carbon-tubbed 4C Spider last year and it transpired to be an entertaining, involving – but frequently frustrating – sports car. Find out more about it, and its faults, in our review here.

Also, unlike your regular track-based supercar experience, hiring a car this way means you’ll be able to take it out on familiar roads and get to know it a little better.

Anything else I need to know?

The Alfa will be available through Europcar’s Selection service. Justin Shaw, Europcar UK’s fleet director, says it aims to ‘bring motorists a VIP experience for the more discerning driver’ and provides ‘a mobility experience that’s a pleasure for leisure and business travellers alike.’

Makes you wonder as to whether the demand for 4Cs has tailed off entirely, though, doesn’t it?
