Renault’s ‘Iconic’ Special Edition Twingo goes on sale

Published: 01 September 2017

► Top-of-the-range model costs £15k
► £2825 of additional kit
► Limited-edition colour scheme

A special edition of Renault’s flawed but charismatic Twingo city car is open for orders. Dubbed the ‘Iconic,’ this new-edition nipper will be packed with additional gear and upgrades inside and out.

Throwing it right in at the top of the Twingo range, Renault has priced the Iconic at £14,595. But with inferior performance to the cheaper Twingo GT, a retracting fabric roof and a bundle of tech is what will set the Iconic apart.

Included in that price is an impressive £2825 of bonus equipment, including fog lights, DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and cruise control.

Renault has also included its own R-Link navigation system as standard, along with part-leather upholstery, climate control, automated headlights, wipers, electric front windows and heated mirrors.

Various optional extras are still available – for an extra £350 you can add a full exterior body kit and upgrade the interior. There are some eye-opening colour options available, including a Mint Green ‘touch pack’ inside.

Kit and cosmetics aside, the Iconic special edition will inherit the Twingo’s turbocharged TCe 90 petrol engine with a choice of manual or ‘efficient dual clutch’ automatic transmission.

The new Renault Twingo Iconic is on display at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show under the guise of ‘La Parisienne,’ the model’s name on the Continent. The UK gets a few things as standard that the European version doesn’t – principally the fabric roof and R-Link infotainment.
