Jaguar XFR (2010) video: a brilliant drift car

Nothing has ever been quite as mad nor fun as this: Anglesey race circuit booked for two days, a van full of tyres, a pair of Jaguar XFRs and a fellow drift nut in Jaguar vehicle development boss Mike Cross.

Cross plays a key role in the gestation of every Jaguar, but he’s also a very handy driver who, just like me, loves nothing better than oversteer. I don’t think I’d be alone in saying it was a dream come true: drifting two Jags around a race track for the benefit of a feature in CAR Magazine.

We were hoping for a dry track and lots of smoke, yet for two days Anglesey – perched on the edge of the Irish Sea – was lashed with heavy rain, making for incredibly tricky conditions.

You can see the full story in the May issue of CAR Magazine (which includes an in-depth look at Jaguar’s Whitley engineering HQ and a blast over the amazing Welsh roads that all Jags are honed on), and you can check out the gratuitous sideways video here.
