Well, there are certainly some perks to joining the Ferrari F1 race team. No sooner has Sebastian Vettel joined the Scuderia than he’s charging around Fiorano in the new FXX K track special, the heated-up LaFerrari hot-rod.

Watch Ferrari’s official video showing the F1 champ in action in our player above. Vettel seems smitten with the extreme FXX K. ‘Mamma mia! It goes like a rocket!’ he exclaims. Well, he would, wouldn’t he?

Ferrari FXX K: a rare-groove, track-only LaFerrari

As road-derived cars go, the FXX K is about as close as he’ll get to his SF15-T Formula 1 company car for the 2015 season.

The track-only FXX K is a seriously souped-up LaFerrari, with some outrageous aero mods to keep it planted on track, 59bhp extra over the road car and a KERS system referenced in the rude-sounding ‘K’ of the name.

End result? Vettel experienced the full 848bhp from the 6262cc V12 and a beefier 187bhp from the electric drive motor. This video gives some feeling of what 1035bhp and ‘in excess’ 664lb ft feels like.

And we just love watching those truncated rear winglets in action. Who said Ferrari had lost its sense of drama?
