Honda plots X6 rivalling crossover

Honda is testing a new full-sized crossover rival to the BMW X6 and its ilk. CAR’s spies in America have captured this Honda prototype testing in the Californian desert by cover of night – but it wasn’t enough to stop our crafty scoop photographers grabbing a few shady shots of the secret new crossover.

The Japanese firm is understood to be aiming for the market inhabited by homegrown rival Infiniti’s FX50: a large crossover for those who want coupe-style looks with SUV go-anywhere ability.

So what’s under the skin of Honda’s new crossover?

It’s unclear at this stage what will underpin the new Honda, but it will be sold under the brand’s upmarket Acura brand. Could it come to Europe? Infiniti is bringing its new FX50 here, but it’s likely that Honda’s new SUV will be a US market product.

We’ll update our story once we’ve obtained more info on Honda’s latest addition to its 4×4 range.
