Genesis has revealed a new Shooting Brake variant of its G70 saloon. The model introductions are coming thick and fast as the new brand looks to gain a foothold in the UK market, and the newest addition to the Genesis stable was shown at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

It’ll be available in automatic 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel variants, and both will have four doors, five seats and 465-litres of space. That marks a 40 per cent increase over the saloon.

Although Genesis – and the Hyundai Group in general – has made the biggest headlines with its electric-powered cars, both the G70 and the saloon on which it’s based are ICE-powered only.

Instead, buyers in the UK will have to wait for the electrified G80, which Genesis says should appear within the first year of return to Europe.

The G80 saloon and SUV both received five Euro NCAP safety stars, and the G70 is likely to get the same honours. Lane-keeping, adaptive cruise and forward collision avoidance are all standard on Genesis models, as is lane following assist and ‘highway’ driving assistance.

Prices are yet to surface for the G70 Shooting Brake but expect it to be in the same neighbourhood as the similar-sized BMW 3-series.
