Project Maybach: Mercedes reveals Virgil Abloh collab

► Second Abloh collab
► Maybach meets mud
► All-electric, of course

Mercedes has revealed its last collaboration with the late creative Virgil Abloh, and it’s one of the most striking concepts we’ve seen in a while. Designed to combine premium luxury with a new ‘Outdoor Adventure,’ motif it’s actually a Mercedes-Maybach, and therefore features bits and pieces of the legendary brand’s iconography.

Built from scratch, and not related to any platform, the Project Maybach is a two-seater coupe with huge six-metre-long proportions and all-terrain wheels – and of course, it’s electric. It’s the second joint concept to be revealed by Mercedes and Abloh, and follows a NASCAR-inspired G-Wagen concept.

Alongside the bold styling and plush interior, the Project Maybach also has several forward-thinking features; for example, the hood is transparent and features solar cells underneath. Every extra mile of range helps!

In addition to the design-input, Mercedes was also keen to point out the change in attitude its collaboration with the late designer has brought. In a statement released with the car Mercedes says its ‘teams thank Virgil Abloh for the inspiration to explore every day the power of cross-industry dialogue to imagine a better, more inclusive future.’
