Suzuki will relaunch the Baleno name with this new supermini due to make its world debut at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show. It is due to go on sale in early summer 2016.

It’s the production iteration of the iK-2 concept car shown in Geneva earlier in 2015 and will be powered by Suzuki’s all-new downsized 1.0-litre Boosterjet direct-injection petrol turbo engine, destined to power the next generation of small Suzukis.

It’s Suzuki’s Fiesta rival

Precious little information has been issued on the new Baleno today, but we know it’s a B-segment supermini. Suzuki’s small-car range is somewhat confusing: it already has the Celerio city car and Swift supermini, but the newcomer is understood to be a little bigger than the Swift, one of CAR’s favourite small cars.

CAR will be reporting live from Frankfurt on 15 September, so stay tuned for further details. Just this solitary photograph has been issued today.
