Rolls Royce at the Paris motor show 2008

Published: 03 October 2008 Updated: 26 January 2015

Nothing much happening at the Rolls Royce stand at Paris. There are three cars lined up: the enormous Phantom (still the Daddy); the vast Drophead (with its yacht-style rear decking); and the gargantuan two-door Coupe(launched at Geneva earlier this year).

No new models to report?

Hey, Rolls-Royce is a tiny bespoke manufacturer – it doesn’t just churn out new models like Toyota does, you know.

And how’s it weathering the financial storm?

Fortunately for Rolls-Royce, it exists at that stratospheric top-end of the global economy, where people make money by buying companies during the turmoil, not lose it by going bust. In the last couple of months alone, Rolls-Royce has opened new showrooms in Hong Kong; New Dehli, India; and Hangzhou, China.

Car Verdict

Always nice to see, but not much to report.
