Hold on tight! Lamborghini has issued this visceral video of its new Aventador SV as it posted an eye-popping 6min 59sec lap of the Nurburgring during tyre tests.
That laptime is enough to elevate the faster Aventador among the very fastest road cars of all time; anything under seven minutes is firmly in the super-fast, record-breaking territory.
It’s a full 25sec faster than a regular Aventador, quicker than a Ferrari Enzo and knocking on the door of the hypercar club.
Porsche set a 6min 57sec lap of the Nordscleife in its 918 Spyder and McLaren cheekily confirmed only a ‘sub 7min’ laptime for its P1 at the hands of chief test driver Chris Goodwin, who told CAR magazine it was ‘on the edge of being a good idea.’
Lamborghini was at the Green Hell during tests of the Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres fitted to the Superveloce as part of its shakedown tests. Read more about the Aventador SV in our report from the 2015 Geneva motor show here.
