Why Bruno Senna is good news for Williams

Published: 18 January 2012 Updated: 26 January 2015

So Senna – Bruno this time – is back in a Williams. At last CAR has predicted something right in F1!

After a string of catastrophic predictions in recent years, we did in fact moot this idea in our Senna feature back in the November 2011 issue of CAR Magazine.

This is a great move for Senna – and Williams. There is certainly an air of change and hope at the Williams team, and I predict Bruno Senna will mature nicely in to the job at the team where his uncle also competed in the latter stages of his career.

It’s hardly surprising that many F1 nerds – me included – have a soft spot for Williams. I personally would love to see them do well again.

Can Bruno Senna do it at Williams?

I don’t think we are going to suddenly see the 2012 Williams team leading races, but with their Renault engines, boosted technical team, the ban on blown diffusers and now a hungry/fast probably last-chance-saloon Senna – this could be the start of something good for them.

I will be keeping an eye on how they perform nearer the start of the season, so stay tuned for more F1 musings.

But this year I feel will be a different type of season. Roll on F1 testing in 2012.
