CAR’s Arctic adventure – in a Bentley Azure

Can you tell what it is yet? Ben Oliver on his journey to the Arctic Circle

I am in Hell. And it seems to have frozen over, so maybe the LibDems will win the next general election after all. There’s more than one Hell, of course. There’s Chez Satan. There’s the M25 at 4pm on a Friday. And there’s my particular Hell, a little village just outside Trondheim in northern Norway where it’s currently a balmy -3C.

It’s a stopover on a 10-day trek we’re making up the Arctic Highway and way beyond the Arctic Circle for a feature for CAR. We’re on the trail of something spectacular, in a car that is spectacularly unsuited to the task. I’m not going to give too much away, but you’re welcome to use the comments to try to guess what we’re looking for, and what we’ve gone in.

If we – and the car – make it back in one piece, you can find out if you’re right in next month’s magazine (May 2007). I can promise it will be (almost) free of Hell puns. Until then, as AC/DC were rocking out on the stereo on the road into town, Hell ain’t no bad place to be.

CAR’S MAY ISSUE IS OUT ON 28 MARCH. DON’T MISS IT!
