An electric Radical adventure – the photo outtakes

Published: 18 March 2011 Updated: 26 January 2015

In the new April 2011 issue of CAR – out now – there are some great stories. Top of the list is an exclusive group test, as we pit the Porsche Cayman R against the Lotus Evora S, BMW M3 and Nissan GT-R. There’s another world exclusive, too: only CAR has had access to both Alfa and Saab’s stunning new concept cars. You can see a full digital preview of the new issue of CAR here.

We’ve also sent Ben Pulman off to America, to join a team of students as they drive their own electric Radical from Alaska to Argentina, a (zero-emissions) distance of nearly 17,000 miles. The Radical SRZero is the team’s own design, and with twin motors and around 500kg of batteries it can travel over 300 miles on a single charge – who said electric cars weren’t interesting or exciting?

The story is part of the 32-page Green CAR supplement that comes free with the new April 2011 issue of CAR, but photographer Daniel Byrne took so many shots it seemed a shame to let some of the un-used photos go to waste. Scroll down the page below to see his excellent outtakes.
