Australian GP 2010: great race, terrible result (for me)

How did my Fantasy League F1 team do this past weekend? Not very well.

I didn’t pick a team in time for the opening round in Bahrain, but I had one selected in time for the Australian GP with Alonso, Vettel, Kubica, Hulkenberg, Sutil and Liuzzi down as my drivers, and Ferrari as my manufacturer of choice.

I then changed my mind, dropping Kubica, Hulkenberg and Liuzzi for Rosberg, Barrichello and Alguersuari.

And of course Kubica drove to a brilliant second, Liuzzi managed seventh while his teammate Sutil retired, and Schumacher passed Alguersuari to steal the final points scoring position. Plus Vettel ended up in the gravel and Massa didn’t let Alonso past.

At least Hulkenberg was punted off the track so I don’t feel too bad about dropping him, plus Rubens scored a creditable eighth. But overall my changes were for the worse – bugger.

Next up is Malaysia, another chance for me to get everything wrong. I’m thinking Button and Hamilton, plus McLaren as my manufacturer, meaning the two Brits are bound to take each other out on the first corner.

Thankfully CAR’s Fantasy League F1 competition wipes the slate clean after the first three rounds so everyone starts on a level playing field for the championship proper. I’m glad – I’m currently 6935th.
