A 205mph Bentley on ice – the video

Published: 17 March 2011 Updated: 26 January 2015

In the April 2011 issue of CAR – out now – we’ve joined Bentley on the hazardous frozen waters of the Baltic Sea to watch Juha Kankkunen set a new world speed record on ice.

Kankkunen’s vehicle of choice was a Bentley Supersports Convertible: the twin-turbo 6.0-litre W12 boasts 621bhp to power it to a 205.48mph record, and the air suspension makes sure it can soak up the bumps at such stellar speeds. Supersports-spec Bentleys are also able to run on biofuel, so for Kankkunen’s record run that’s the eco-friendly fuel that was powering his car.

You can view our video of Bentley’s Ice Speed Record run below, and read the full story in the new April 2011 issue of CAR Magazine, along with an exclusive group as we pit the Porsche Cayman R against the Lotus Evora S, BMW M3 and Nissan GT-R, and exclusve photo shoots of Alfa Romeo and Saab’s new concept cars.
