When F1 drivers met the Ferrari rollercoaster (2010)

Published: 11 May 2010 Updated: 26 January 2015

The weekend’s Spanish grand prix 2010 was a rollercoaster race for Ferrari – off the track more than on it. Maranello chose Barcelona to announce the opening date for the new Ferrari World joyride being built at the new complex in Abu Dhabi: doors open to (probably highly) paying customers on 28 October 2010.

Felipe Massa, Stefano Domenicali and Fernando Alonso turned out for an unusual photocall installed in the Ferrari rollercoaster rides – the Formula Rossa – installed in a huge mobile cradle.

In line with its road cars, the Ferrari ride is claimed to be the fastest rollercoaster in the world, hitting highs of 149mph and blitzing from 0-62mph in 2.0sec. Sick bags included!

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will be the world’s largest indoor and first Ferrari theme park. Including 20 unique rides, one of which is guaranteed to take you sky high – literally – through the roof up over 62m and back down again. Watch a sampler of the Ferrari rollercoaster in the YouTube video clip beneath.
