The Ford Kuga is the Blue Oval's second stab at a bespoke global SUV – and is a bit of a multicultural dish as a result, designed to appeal to buyers in Detroit and Dagenham. Sharp-suited design, a wide range of engines and occasional 4wd for mounting those tricky kerbs at Sainsburys. For more information on the Ford Kuga, click on our further stories on the links below.
60sec road test
The Kuga Mk2 is a bit longer than before but pitched resolutely as a family-focused SUV. So it can cope in wintry slime or towing a boat up a slipway, but don't expect Land Rover levels of gumption off road. Rather it is tuned to perform on the tarmac, and here you'll find a comfortable, quiet, refined car. The five seats are comfortable for family duties and it's better equipped than its predecessor. The best bit? It's the way the Kuga drives, with some fun handling and a well weighted helm. You'll barely notice you're not in a taller-riding Ford Focus.
The one we'd buy
The one we'd avoid like the plague
Rivals to consider
Honda CR-V, Hyundai ix35, Kia Sportage
Good to drive, roomy, plentiful supply
Not as good looking as predecessor, engine-sensitive
