The Honda Insight is the second-generation hybrid bearing the name; where the first was an edgy coupe, the new Insight is a more family focused car. It's a soft hybrid, so it never runs on full EV power. For more information on the Insight, click on our further stories on the links below.
60sec road test
Not Honda's finest hour. For a company adept at tech showcases of the finest order, the Insight hybrid is a bit of a rare slip-up. Designed to be a more affordable, family-friendly kind of hybrid, it ended up being something of a white elephant. Lacking the full hybrid capability of the rival Prius, you lose the goody two-shoes, silent electric running of a full hybrid. Sadly you have to rev the Insight quite hard to keep up reasonable progress, further denting economy. Result? You'd be better off with a modern-day diesel if saving fuel's your thing.
