The Honda NSX is coming back to replace the ace 1989 original. Mixing Japanese engineering with family car usability (sort of), it really did move the goalposts in the supercar sector. Aluminium build, rear-drive and a chassis signed off by Ayrton Senna. Bliss! The new one is being readied for launch in late 2015. 60sec road test
We're big fans of the original Honda sports car around here - it's still possible to feel its import today, a quarter century on. Cars like the Audi R8, Ferrari 458... they all show the after-effects of the sublimely easy-to-drive NSX. Now the Mk2 is readied for launch in late 2015 and the signs are that it'll repeat the formula. This will offer serious drivers' thrills, but with the legendary ease of use intact, promises Honda. The biggest change will be that it's now a hybrid, mixing V6 power with electric motors that make it four-wheel drive. Price? In the US, where it is going to be sold as an Acura, the NSX will be priced around $150,000 (£99k).
The one we'd buy
Oh yes. Yes, yes, yes
The one we'd avoid like the plague
Rivals to consider
BMW i8, Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911 Turbo
We've yet to drive the new NSX, but we're hoping we'll love it
Too early to say
