BMW 5-series Touring (2011) latest spy photos

Published: 07 December 2009 Updated: 26 January 2015

These new BMW 5-series Touring spy photos plopped in our inbox first thing this morning – affording the clearest view yet of the more practical Five.

As our scoop shots reveal, Munich’s stuck with the tried-and-tested format for this executive estate: the new 2010 5-series Touring is an elegant load lugger with the emphasis on style over outright capacity.

When will we see the new BMW 5-series Touring?

Later in 2010; the saloon arrives first in the spring, we’re expecting to see the Five wagon a bit later in the year.

There will be a load of creature comforts built into the new F11 5-series Touring. A lift-up window will be kept, letting you drop bags of shopping in the boot without needing to lift the whole tailgate.

As is usual in the executive estate class, there will automated load covers and lashing points galore. Whatever the new Merc E-class estate does, you can be sure the BMW 5-series will have similar loading capabilities.
What’s under the bonnet?

Look at the new F10 5-series saloon range for the full mechanical line-up. Eight-speed auto gearboxes are coming, hybrid powertrains are under development and the new Five is longer in every dimension.

Engines will include:

520d (four-cyl 2.0)
525d (six-cyl 3.0)
530d (six-cyl 3.0)
523i (six-cyl 2.5)
528i (six-cyl 3.0)
535i (six-cyl 3.0 turbo)
550i (V8 4.4)

Expect prices from around £32,000 once a full suite of engines is on board, shadowing today’s range.
